Large-scale police operation was conducted in Bulgaria’s coastal city of Bourgas on August 16, aimed at countering theft of luxury cars and their subsequent registration.
Seven people have been arrested.
Shortly before 12:00, an insurance broker was detained in an office located metres away from the traffic police office where cars are registered. It is suspected that he was involved in a criminal scheme for re-registration of stolen luxury cars, which are then sold in the country at lower prices.
Because of the special operation, there are mobile police teams at the entrances and exits of Bourgas, stopping cars for inspection.
Members of the public should be informed that they may experience some inconveniences with tthe vvehicle registration services in- the priod of the on-going investigation.
