The Ministry of Interior reports a drop in the number of registered crimes and an increase in the detection rate during the period in which Boyko Rashkov was the Minister of Interior.
The number of crashes and road fatalities, however, has increased, the outgoing minister reported on August 1.
Rashkov reminded that changes have been proposed to the Road Traffic Act aimed at reducing serious crashes.
"These increased checks that we have currently undertaken and are conducting have shown that in our country, very unfortunately, every third driver is either under the influence of drugs or alcohol, or is without a driving licence, or is driving a vehicle that is not registered," Rashkov said.
