opposition parties called resignation entire government

The opposition in Bulgaria’s 47th National Assembly on June 9 demanded the resignation of the entire government and elections.

Political reactions after TISP party left the coalition government

According to the opposition parties, there is no point in wasting more time. They believe that the changes in the cabinet and the budget update will be a vote of confidence in the cabinet.

The three opposition parties in the Parliament GERB-UDF, Movement for Rights and Freedoms (MRF) and "Vazrazhdane" are united around the thesis that this government is incompetent and cannot provide security and stability to the country in the conditions of economic crisis and war.

The largest opposition party, GERB-UDF, advised the Prime Minister to ask for a vote of confidence himself. MRF has repeatedly reminded and said that this is the weakest government in the recent 30 years. “Vazrazhdane” party demanded immediate elections.

This morning, not a single MP from GERB-UDF came to Parliament until the start of the sitting, they appeared around 9.30 and made a statement. According to GERB-UDF,this government, with this mandate and composition, cannot continue to work.

"It is tragic that the government is falling apart not because of deep ideological differences, which we have been talking about since it was established, that these entities in the coalition are incompatible, some parties, others - alliances, but because of mutual attacks in corruption and incompetence. Those who came with the statement of zero tolerance for corruption, after 6 months have already reached a level of zero tolerance even among themselves," said Desislava Atanasova, chairwoman of the GERB-UDF parliamentary group.

According to GERB-UDF, after a series of crises, a political one is coming.

If I were in Petkov's place I would ask for a vote of confidence in this situation. And only then I would talk about a minority cabinet. Obviously we do not trust this cabinet," added Toma Bikov from the GERB-UDF parliamentary group.

MRF commented that they could not yet say how a minority government would work.

"Let's see things one by one, now we expect the resignations of those ministers who said this, then the resignation of the entire cabinet, we will not support new ministers in this cabinet, Mustafa Karadayi, the MRF chairman, added.

Regarding Prime Minister Petkov’s suggestion to appoint Minister of Interior Boyko Raskov as head of the anti-corruption commission, Karadayi recalled the MRF’s opinion of Rashkov at the elections in July last year, involving comments of “lawless actions and turning the police into communist-time militia".

I think we have an assessment from the July and November elections. I think that Brussels, the Commissioners and the European Parliament are also aware of Minister Rashkov's conduct. If you are aware of the lawlessness and the turning of the police into a communist-time militia during elections, you have established the facts," Karadayi said.

MRF said they are always ready for elections.

"Supporting Kiril (referring PM Kiril Petkov) the liar and Assen (referring to Fiannce Minister Assen Vassilev) the thief - are you kidding me?" said Hamid Hamid of MRF.

“Vazrazhdane”party also wants immediate elections.

"We are going to early. Either this National Assembly is not a people's assembly and its representatives are not people's representatives or someone is gravely lying to the Bulgarian people. That is why the best solution is early elections," said Kostadin Kostadinov, leader of “Vazrazhdane".

What will be the opposition's actions in the political process - it will become clear soon.
