The Regional Prosecutor's Office in Plovdiv sent a letter to the Regional Department of Education with a recommendation to organise an awareness campaign in schools regarding an incident in which a student was injured.
On June 3, 2022, in Plovdiv a 16-year-old boy climbed on to the top of a train carriage with the intention of taking a selfie with a mobile phone. From the resulting electric arc, the child fell to the ground and was taken to hospital with multiple burns.
The District Prosecutor's Office in Plovdiv opened an investigation into the cases.
The letter states that this is not the first case of children attempting to take pictures on the tops of trains located at various railway stations in the district.
In this regard, the District Prosecutor's Office-Plovdiv recommends that the Regional Department of Education to take immediate action to explain the dangers of risky selfie-taking behaviour among students in the district.
