six medals bulgaria rhythmic gymnastics world championships

Sofia hosted an extremely successful 2022 World Rhythmic Gymnastics Championships. Bulgaria's national team finished the competition with six awards and two quotas for the Olympic Games in Paris.

The ensemble won two gold medals - in the all-around and the mixed (three ribbons and two balls). Zenina Trashlieva, Rachel Stoyanov, Sofia Ivanova, Margarita Vasileva, Kamelia Petrova and Radina Tomova became real favorites of the audience, who did not stop applauding them even in the most difficult moments.

Stiliyana Nikolova was the big hero after Boryana Kalein failed to start the race due to a viral illness.

Bulgaria's 17-year-old debutant at the Women's World Championships won three silver medals with hoop, clubs and ribbon. Then she added to them a bronze medal in the all-around.

The World Championships was also the first qualification for rhythmic gymnastics for the Games in Paris in 2024. The ensemble won one quota after the gold in the all-around and Stiliyana Nikolova the second in the individual race for the bronze. This was the maximum for the so-called "direct passes" to the Olympic Games.

The assessment of the President of the Bulgarian federation, Iliana Raeva, about the championship is eloquent: "I would say that this is a very happy competition for us. In my wildest dreams I never imagined we would win so many medals, but of course I hoped so. "
