Caretaker Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Velislava Petrova, today, September 28, received copies of the credentials of the new Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of North Macedonia to Bulgaria, Agneza Rusi Popovska.
Deputy Minister Petrova welcomed the Ambassador of North Macedonia. She underlined the satisfaction of the Bulgarian side that after a very long period this deficit in the bilateral diplomatic dialogue has been overcome and North Macedonia now has an ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary in Sofia. She expressed the hope that this would contribute to deepening good neighbourly relations.
Deputy Minister Petrova highlighted Bulgaria's support for North Macedonia's European integration. At the same time, consistent efforts should be made to restore trust and build a sincere positive atmosphere in the bilateral dialogue. It is of utmost importance that the agreements reached find expression in real results.
Ambassador Rusi Popovska thanked for the prompt response for the holding of the current meeting and described the latest developments in the bilateral dialogue as a new page in the relations between Bulgaria and North Macedonia.
In the course of the talks, the two sides agreed that along with progress at the political level, tangible results in sectoral cooperation would be of interest to the citizens of both countries.
