Two people were injured after a landslide buried them on the beach near Albena seaside resort, Northeastern Bulgaria, on August 9.
A landslide in the area of the restaurant "Moby Dick" activated around 10.30 today, according to the municipality of Balchik. The restaurant has slid down to the seashore.
According to initial reports, two people were trapped and rescue teams arrived and pulled out a man whose car was parked in the area and woman, who was trapped between two refrigerated display cases.
The man was admitted to "St. Anna" Hospital in Varna with soft tissue injuries, no fractures or other serious injuries. He was adequate on arrival.
The woman, who is in a more serious condition, was admitted to a hospital in Dobrich and is in intensive care.
There have been caravans and cars stuck in the area, the Balchik Municipality also confirmed.
Heavy equipment was immediately sent to the scene. Fire safety and population protection teams from Albena and Balchik also arrived.
At the moment, teams are inspecting the terrain, after which they will start clearing the road so that people who are on the beach between Albena and Balchik can take their cars.
Police are continuing their search. All other establishments in the vicinity are to be closed as the fire fighting brigade has concerns about further landslides in the area.
This is not the first such incident in this palce. About 20 years ago, a landslide reactivated at the same location. Two people lost their lives at that time.
