The average annual temperature in Bulgaria has risen by 1.3 degrees in the past two decades, said Bulgaria’s Minister of Environment Ivelina Vassileva on 3rd of December.
Speaking at a conference on climate changes and the challenges for the Bulgarian nature and tourism, Vassileva emphasised that the vulnerability studies of the sectors of the Bulgarian economy showed that Bulgaria was relatively stable and most sectors were described as moderately sustainable.
Climate changes may extend the summer tourist season, said Vassileva. Given that Bulgaria aims to become an all-year round tourist destination, It would be good to be prepared for such changes, she added, stressing the need for Bulgaria to develop alternatives for all-year round types of tourism, including culinary, religious and wine tourism.
Bulgaria is one of the 13 member states which fulfills the aims of the EU plan for reducing the impact of climate changes and binding them with energy sources.
