Hemus Motorway: Construction of Lot 2 is running behind and makes work on Lot 3 pointless, states the Minister of Regional Development

Caretaker of Regional Minister Ivan Shishkov on Sepetember 13 inspected section 3 of Hemus Motorway together with representatives of the Road Infrastructure Agency and the state-owned company "Motorways".

With the payments to the companies working on the construction of Hemus Motorway, the work on the construction of section 3 of the Pleven - Lovech road has been practically restored, Shishkov said.

However, the construction of Lot 2 is lagging behind because it was awarded last, which effectively nullifies the work on Lot 3. Minister Shishkov also said that part of Lot 3 needed to be redesigned, which was not done in the necessary time and this also led to delays in construction.

"We will now want a very accurate account of what this delay will lead to. What you can count on from the new leadership of the ministry of regional development and of Motorways is that those projects that have been stalled will be addressed as quickly as possible. If all is well, they will be approved," the minister said.

The builders of lots 1 and 3 of Hemus Motorway have already been paid, and documents are still pending from those building lot 2. These three sections are projected to be constructed within the existing timeframe.
