40° in the shade: Code orange weather alert for high temperatures for July 12

Code Yellow for dangerously high temperatures has been issued across the country for another day in a row. Tomorrow, July 12, the weather warning will be at level two, code orange, due to the long-lasting period of dangerously hot weather.

It has been cloudless over the past day in most areas, but there have been showers, in the eastern half of the country, accompanied by thunders in some places.

Today, July 11, there will also be showers and thunders in isolated places, but in most of the country it will be sunny and very hot with maximum temperatures of 35° to 39° - 40° per Celsius in the shade, in Sofia around 34°, on the coast 30° to 34°.

There will be a light, moderate northeasterly wind in eastern areas and along the Black Sea coast. Tomorrow, the weather will remain sunny, with afternoon showers in some places, with a higher probability in the southeastern regions and dangerously high maximum temperatures, between 35° and 40°, in Sofia around 34°. Light easterly winds, moderate northeasterly winds in eastern Bulgaria.

Along the Black Sea coast, there will also be moderate winds, with direction from east-northeast, but the sea swell will remain weak. Isolated afternoon showers are possible on the coast tomorrow. It will be hot there too with maximum temperatures between 30° and 35°.

The only escape from the hot weather will be in the mountains, and at higher altitudes from 14° to 18°. Sunny weather will prevail there too, but afternoon showers are possible. The wind will be light to moderate, from northeast.

Light and isolated afternoon showers and thunderstorms are also not ruled out in the coming days, with a higher probability on Saturday, but it will be increasingly hot with a very high risk of fires.
