Another 11 million BGN approved for construction and repairs of kindergartens and schools

The caretaker government on November 30 approved another 11,178,364 BGN for the construction, enlargement and reconstruction of nurseries, kindergartens and schools in the country. The funds are under the Ministry of Education and Science's programme to improve facilities in educational institutions.

The financial support will be distributed among 33 municipalities, including Belitsa, Gotse Delchev, Garmen, Petrich, Aitos, Burgas, Malko Tarnovo, Aksakovo, Byala, Veliko Tarnovo, Elena, Gabrovo, Dobrich, Kardzhali, Dupnitsa, Lovech, Pernik, Radomir, Cherven Bryag, Asenovgrad, Rakovski, Ruse, Kotel, Sliven, Elin Pelin, Kostinbrod, Samokov, Svoge, Kazanlak, Stara Zagora, Targovishte, Haskovo, Yambol.

The funds will be used to pay for activities under contracts concluded for the implementation of the programme. Some educational institutions will undergo major repairs to improve the conditions for the education and training of children and pupils, while others will build entirely new kindergarten buildings or construct school buildings.

The implementation of the activities under the Programme for Construction, Extension, Addition and Reconstruction of Nurseries, Kindergartens and Schools 2020 - 2022 is working to reduce the shortage of available places in nurseries and kindergartens, as well as the successful inclusion of 4-year-old children in the pre-school education system. Thanks to the newly constructed school buildings and blocks, more schools will be able to switch to single-shift education.
