Bulgarian state railway company BDZ launches an extra trip with the Christmas train, which will travel from Sofia to Bankya and from Bankya to Sofia on 17 December. The train will be pulled by the oldest steam locomotive in the Bulgarian Railways (BDZ) rolling stock, which was recently restored.
This will be possible after the extremely high interest shown in the train and the numerous inquiries from those wishing to travel after the tickets for the announced trips have sold out.
The extra run of the festive train will take place at 16:00 from Sofia Central Station. The train will arrive at Bankya station at 16:32, where travellers can be transported from one Christmas atmosphere to another by visiting the Christmas Town in the centre of the resort town. The amusement train will depart from Bankya Station back to Sofia Central Station at 17:45, where it will arrive at 18:18.
The ticket for a round trip costs 35 BGN, including a seat. Children up to the age of 7 will travel free-of-charge, no separate seat is provided for them.
Proof of age is required when issuing a free-of-charge ticket to children. BDZ reminds that children under 10 years of age shouid travel with an accompanying adult.
Tickets for this train can be purchased from ticket offices and at all railway stations in the country. Quantities are limited.
