Improving the Bulgarian-Turkish border crossing by road and rail and reducing congestion were discussed by the Transport Ministers of the two countries Hristo Alexiev and Adil Karaismailoglu on November 1.
Among the topics of the meeting, held at the Kapakule border check point, was the possibility of building a new railway link between Bulgaria and Turkey.
The aim of the meeting between the two ministers is to discuss solutions for preventing the huge queues and long waiting hours at the Kapakule and Kapitan Andreevo checkpoints. They are related to the increased traffic expected in the coming months.
According to the reported data, only in October, 100,000 more freight lorries were processed compared to October last year.
