Caretaker Prime Minister, Galab Donev, on October 24 met with the leaders of the trade unions and employers' organizations. Deputy Prime Minister for Social Policies and Minister of Labour and Social Policy, Lazar Lazarov, and Minister of Finance, Rositsa Velkova, also participated in the talks with the social partners.
The budget for 2023 was the main topic discussed during the meeting at the Council of Ministers. Trade unions and employers were presented with the different options that the Ministry of Finance has developed regarding state resources in 2023 and the corresponding possible estimates regarding the revenue and expenditure part of the budget. The social partners, for their part, expressed their positions on the subject.
Debt management, curbing inflation and ways to limit the informal sector were also discussed. The importance of funds under EU programmes and the Recovery and Resilience plan were also among the topics of the discussion.
In the course of the meeting, concerns were expressed about populist decisions related to next year's budget, which risk to arise due to the uncertain political situation in the country. Caretaker Prime Minister, Galab Donev, pointed out that it is necessary to approach the budget with wisdom and politicians to take great responsibility for their promises and decisions on what to do with the money of the state and the Bulgarian citizens.
