GERB-UDF: We will accept President Radev’s invitation to the October 26 talks

We will attend the consultations called by the President. Perhaps, we will send a large delegation, because there are several important topics for discussion - the main one is the chances and opportunities for forming a ruling majority and a government within this Parliament, Tomislav Donchev from GERB-UDF said in the National Assembly on October 25.

According to him, another important topic is the budget for 2023, the extension of the budget for 2022, and the topic of energy.

"The declared desire of the President not to rush with the handing over of the government-forming mandates, I think, is right. This Parliament should be given a chance because otherwise the option of quick elections would reproduce the current situation and we would be faced with the same tasks we are currently facing. The only difference, which would be reflected in an outflow of support for some political forces, is the issue of responsibility - who would be to blame for the inability of this National Assembly to form a governing majority," Tomislav Donchev added.

Referring to the chances of a government formed with the first mandate, Donchev said that the arithmetic approach is incorrect because collecting votes to reach 121 cannot produce a normal government.

"The parties - one, two, three, four - have to line up in the name of common goals, which they will pursue. Such a line-up may be difficult, but I still don't think it is impossible. Perhaps the best option is to extend the 2022 budget to March or April, to give comfort to the caretaker government to carry out its functions. The conversation about a full-fledged budget should be held when there is such a government. There is a risk that the Budget 2023 debate will turn into a pre-election event and this is one of the arguments to avoid such budget technology," Tomislav Donchev further said.
