Government allocates extra funds for heating allowances

The Council of Ministers grants a one-off heating allowance of BGN 300. The funds are allocated to 50, 000 households. Families with permanently disabled children, people with disabilities, orphans, families affected by fires and floods in 2022, as well as war veterans will be entitled to them.

"Do not lose your connection with the people and look for the solutions that actually improve the lives of Bulgarian citizens, despite the complex political situation," caretaker Prime Minister, Galab Donev, urged his colleagues at the opening of the regular weekly meeting of the Council of Ministers on November 30.

Donev said that the caretaker government is a temporary power and the caretaker cabinet is aware of that. He reminded ministers that the consequences of "stupid management decisions" are permanent and hard to erase.

Almost 10,000 people have been supported with 400 BGN so far. And by the end of this year, the new financial support for heating in the amount of BGN 300 will be available for the 8 target groups - a total of 50,000 people, said the caretaker Social Policy Minister, Lazar Lazarov.

"These persons will not have to submit documents to the Social Assistance Agency, they have already been identified. The benefits will be granted under a simplified procedure," Lazarov added.

Municipalities are also expected to be allocated funds to prevent, manage and overcome the consequences of disasters, as well as to purchase school buses and for repairs of schools, kindergartens and nurseries.

The cabinet will also approve compensation for parents' expenses from 15 September to 31 October for the upbringing and education of children not enrolled to state or municipal kindergartens due to lack of vacancies.
