Two people have been detained for the shooting at the Bulgarian-Turkish border, in which a Bulgarian policeman was killed, Borislav Sarafov, Head of the National Investigation Service, told BNT on November 8. These are the alleged perpetrator of the shooting and his associate. It has been established that they are not Turkish citizens, their nationality is yet to be determined.

The initial version is that the detainees are migrant smugglers.
"I do not want to assume the version of a terrorist act, for the moment we will have to assume that it is migrant smuggling accompanied by particular arrogance and cruelty, because they did not shoot once, they shot at least 10 times at our officers."
After clarifying the circumstances surrounding the case, a team of Bulgarian investigators is likely to travel to Türkiye, the head of the investigation service added.
