Hristo Valchanov on December 5 was dismissed from the post of Executive Director of the Bulgarian Food Safety Agency by order of caretaker Prime Minister Galab Donev.
The post will now be held by the current Deputy Executive Director of the Agency Ivan Shikov. The change is at the proposal of the caretaker Minister of Agriculture Yavor Gechev.
No reasons were given for the dismissal. Earlier today, "We Continue the Change" filed a report with the State Agency for National Security against the agency. According to the party, the Food Safety Agency threatens national security because of the phytosanitary control at the Kaptain Andreevo checkpoint.
"We Continue the Change" claims that the Bulgarian Food Safety Agency is inactive at the border, and that specific employees of the agency are obstructing the state's law suit against the private laboratory at Kapitan Andreevo border crossing and deliberately sabotaging it.
