In a few days Bulgaria should have a nomination for a new representative in the European Commission, Bulgaria’s current EU Commissioner Iliana Ivanova said from Burgas. The proposal to Bulgaria from President Ursula von der Leyen is, if there are new candidates, to be a man and a woman, if it is the current commissioner - to be one person. Ivanova did not comment on whether we would take on a new portfolio in the European Commission, nor did she want to say whether negotiations have already been held with her to remain in the post.
"I cannot discuss any names. You know, this is an important issue on which I agree that there has to be a national consensus and unity from everybody because it is important that the figure who represents the country really gets broad public support. After all, it is good for Bulgaria to have a nomination within the deadline set by the EC and not to waste time because eventually the portfolios are also starting to be discussed, so it is good that this happens in the coming days", said Iliana Ivanova, EU Commissioner for Innovation, Research, Culture, Education and Youth.
