Kornelia Ninova called for the left-wing parties union to happen within BSP

At a briefing on November 28, Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP) leader Kornelia Ninova commented on the intention of former President Georgi Parvanov (President from 2002 to 2012) to make a new left-wing alliance.

She called on all former BSP members who left the party and founded new parties to return to the BSP and renew their membership.

She explained that she was talking about Georgi Parvanov, Rumen Petkov, Maya Manolova, Tatyana Doncheva, Georgi Kadiev and other leaders in the left-wing space who left BSP before 2016, when she took over the leadership post in the BSP.

Kornelia Ninova made it clear that she was not referring to those who left or were expelled from the party during her leadership.

Regarding the collection of petitions and declarations for a quick congress on 10 and 11 December, Ninova explained that according to the statute so far 6 declarations have been officially received and 17 more - unofficially. She calculated that this makes 23 declarations out of 296 party organisations, which is extremely insufficient.

By statute, in order to call an expedited congress, there must be a period of 15 days from the filing of the required number of declarations to the date of the congress. However, there are 11 days from today till December 10 and therefore there cannot be a congress in December, the BSP leader said. The Congress, however, remains for the dates of February 10 and 11.

Kornelia Ninova today refused to comment on the issue of the formation of a future cabinet, as well as on the one of the prosecutor's office's inquiry into the BSP's signals of election violations.

The BSP for Bulgaria leader said she would comment on both topics tomorrow during the extraordinary parliamentary sitting.
