Hundreds have been arrested across the country for drugs possession and distribution in the course of Operation “White” over the past two days. Investigators have also uncovered other crimes such as theft and illegal possession of weapons.
More than 250 persons have been arrested so far in the course of Operation “White”. 10 laboratories and greenhouses for drug production have been identified. Charges have been brought against people in the coastal city of Bourgas.
"21 persons have been indicted and charges have been pressed, for possession with intent to distribute, as well as for distribution of narcotic substances and their analogues. I emphasize explicitly that this happened within the past 24 hours," said Georgi Chinev, Head of the District Prosecutor's Office in Bourgas.
In Bourgas, in the course of the raid, investigators have identified other crimes, such as theft and illegal possession of weapons. Drug dealers are becoming more and more inventive.
"We found a narcotic substance hidden in concealment in a wall. We found a narcotic substance in eyeglass cases. It was observed that persons who engage in this type of criminal activity keep smaller quantities in their possession with a view that if they are caught, the financial damage to them will be less. The types of drugs that have been detected are marijuana, ecstasy pills (203) and the so-called designer drugs - tea with impregnated narcotic substance", explained Chief Commissioner Kaloyan Kaloyanov, Director of the Police Department of the Ministry of Interior - Bourgas.
It is getting easier to buy drugs near schools in Blagoevgrad, students say
Police have been in contact with teachers and students to locate places near schools where drugs were sold, but it is difficult to determine the profile of dealers among minors.
"If years ago the kids we caught for drug use and distribution were mostly from elite high schools, now unfortunately they are from all type of schools and the age group is dropping. We have identified 13, 14-year-olds. They themselves say that drugs are bought in the area of the schools ", explained Desislava Vassileva, Local Commission for Combating Anti-Social Behaviour - Bourgas.
The operation also included checks on drivers for use of drugs. Seven people were detained in Bourgas.
