Recently three Bulgarian policemen were killed, protecting EU’s external border. Today, the Prime Minister of the Netherlands, Mark Rutte, unacceptably suggested that one could cross this border for 50 euro. Instead of receiving European solidarity, Bulgaria receives cynicism!, the Head of State wrote on his Facebook page.
Netherlands blocks Bulgaria for Schengen, supports Romania and Croatia
Earlier on December 2, news reports in the Netherlands said that next week the Netherlands will vote against Bulgaria's Schengen accession, but will support the membership of Romania and Croatia. According to the Minister of Interior, Wopke Hoekstra, it is still "too early" for Bulgaria to be accepted into Schengen. According to him, the Netherlands can vote in favour of Sofia only after it becomes clear that Bulgaria has a well-functioning justice system that is able to fight corruption and organised crime.
