A protest against the passage of heavy goods vehicles through Petrohan mountain pass closed the traffic at 19:00 this evening, June 25.
Citizens from northwestern Bulgaria blocked the pass at the village of Barziya.

The people of the settlements in the Montana and Vidin districts are directly affected by every problem on the route because it is the main transport link for the people of these two districts with Sofia, the country’s western border and almost the whole of southern Bulgaria.
At the previous two protests over the decision to allow trucks to pass through Petrohan, protesters expressed their suspicions that in the high heat the heavy machinery would quickly destroy the road, and everyone remembers how many years and protests it took to get it repaired just a few winters ago.
The protest was scheduled to last until 8 p.m., but the pass continues to be closed to traffic.
