Bulgaria's President: I support the European integration of North Macedonia, as long as it complies with the principles of good neighbourliness

My position on the Republic of North Macedonia has always been open and consistent. I have always supported the European integration of the Republic of North Macedonia, as long as it complies with the principles of good neighbourliness and especially the Copenhagen membership criteria - this means a change in the constitution and respect for the rights of the Macedonian Bulgarians. The hate speech that dominated the election campaign rejected, revision of textbooks and the Bulgarian cultural and historical heritage of the Bulgarians in North Macedonia respected and protected. This is what President Rumen Radev said after the victory of VMRO-DPMNE in the elections in the Republic of North Macedonia.

In his words, it will become clear very soon whether the new President and the party, which won with a decisive lead, will finally work for the European perspective of the Republic of North Macedonia or will take a different direction.
