Bulgarian pavilion for agricultural products, food and cosmetics in China

Bulgarian producers of agricultural products, food and cosmetics will have the opportunity to present them at a permanent pavilion in the Chinese city of Ningbo. This is made possible thanks to a project at the Ministry of Agriculture, which encourages producers to trade with China. Logistics and participation is free of charge.

The Association for the Promotion of Agricultural Cooperation between China and the Central and Eastern European Countries is now ready with a permanent pavilion for Bulgarian producers . It is on an area of 130 square metres in the Chinese city of Ningbo. In order to participate in the year-round exhibition, they need to present samples of the products they produce.

"The samples are then shipped to Ningbo city, to our permanent pavilion. The official opening of the pavilion will be in early October this year," said Dr Momchil Stanishev, director of the Association for the Promotion of Agricultural Cooperation between China and the Central and Eastern European Countries.

There are some restrictions. The list of all of them is published on our website, for example one of the products is pork which cannot be offered in China at this stage.

Teodora Gergova is a producer of boutique honey with flowers, such as rose petals, for example. She is focusing at the European and Chinese markets and today she had brought samples to participate in the exhibition.

"We are sure the product will be very well received in China. At least because the Bulgarian rose is very well known there and Bulgarian honey has a very good reputation," explained honey producer Teodora Gergova.

The association says it is a myth that Bulgarian producers can provide relatively small quantities, which are not sufficient for the Chinese market.

"What is important is not the quantity but the quality of the products," Stanishev clarified.

Chinese consumers are keen to try European products. They are also looking for boutique ones, such as honey, rose products, rose oil, lavender, products with a sweet nuance. The Chinese consumer likes sweet. Even the Bulgarian yoghurt, which is popular in China, they eat it sweetened.
