Sofia City Court has struck off Kornelia Ninova as chairperson of the Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP) and person representing the party and in her place registered Atanas Zafirov, but only as acting chairperson.
The court refused to register Zafirov as a new chairman until the BSP Congress elects a Ninova’s successor. According to the magistrates, only the chairman elected under the rules of the BSP Statutes is subject to such registration.
The decision is not final and can be appealed or protested before the Supreme Court of Cassation within seven days of its notification to the parties.
