Obviously, elections in March is much better than elections in February or January, but efforts should be made to have a government that can be a government of reform, not a government of revenge, Hristo Ivanov, co-chairman of “Democratic Bulgaria”, said after the meeting with the President on November 21.
"I don't see anything obvious what will happen with the third mandate and let's not rush before the wind. We will comment on possible third term relationships when the time comes. Let's see what will happen with the first mandate, whether GERB will form a coalition of the revenge, let's see whether with the second mandate a pro-reform government can be formed," he said.
Ivanov commented on GERB leader Boyko Borissov's invitation for talks on the Electoral Code, saying that these talks should not be held for just one week.
"Mr Borissov and all of us call for dialogue, but dialogue on the reform of the electoral process for one week does not seem serious to me. I don't rule out any arguments and directions of conversation, but we should have it in a serious way."
"Democratic Bulgaria" and the President have not talked about a veto on changes to the Electoral Code. Hristo Ivanov described it as unfortunate that during the consultations they talked mainly about arms for Ukraine.
"It surprised me because our differences are known, our positions are public. This clarification of relations seemed unfortunate to me, given that people expect us to talk about forming a government. Sometimes there is more emotion," he said.
As part of the government-forming consultations, so far the President held meetings with the leaderships of the parliamentary groups of GERB-UDF, "We Continue the Change", Movement for Rights and Freedoms, "Vazrazhdane" and BSP.
Radev gave a statement that he would carry out the procedure to the end and give the parties enough time until they exhaust all possible options in search of a consensus to form a government.
