A floating mine was sighted in the sea near Kabakum beach in Bulgaria’s coastal city of Varna on March 12.
The explosive device, which is a type YM2, comes from the area of hostilities near Ukraine. The mine is currently being taken out to sea by Minehunter 33 of the Navy to be detonated at a safe distance from the shore, Rear Admiral Kirill Mihailov, commander of the Navy, told BNT.
At the moment the situation is calm, the area is cordoned off. The mine was very close to the shore, but thanks to the Navy it is now far away. Most likely the mine will be blown up further out to sea.
