Fuel smuggling ring disrupted in Bourgas

A special operation on a signal for an active ring for smuggling of fuels and storage of excise goods in particularly large sizes is conducted in the coastal city of Bourgas on May 17.

The operation, which started yesterday, is carried out under the direction of the District Prosecutor's Office in Bourgas with the participation of the Ministry of Interior, the Customs Agency and the National Revenue Agency. In the course of the inspection, a number of items of evidence were seized, including a tanker truck.

Several persons were detained for a period of 24 hours under the pre-trial proceedings. In view of the initial stage, the degree of complexity and the specificity of the investigation, persons involved in the offences are yet to be identified and possibly charged.

The investigation is ongoing.
