"There is a very serious alert from one of the most influential security services in the world about highest level of threat against me," GERB-UDF leader Boyko Borissov said while speaking to reporters in the corridors of Parliament on June 26.
Borissov said he hoped that the State Agency for National Security, the Ministry of Interior and the National Service for Protection will take some measures. “I have been threatened many times”, he added.
"It worried me that, yesterday, two diametrically opposed media published information that the threat comes from the chairperson of the Movement for Rights and Freedoms (MRF), Delyan Peevski. I had heard everything else about Peevski, but this was too much for me. Borissov believes that Bulgaria's aid to Ukraine is the reason for the threat against him.
Borissov pointed out that most likely the threat comes because of Bulgaria’s aid for Ukraine.
Borissov also commented on the future formation of the government.
"I think we have always kept our word and GERB will propose a minority government after these are stated positions - red lines from all parties. So what is not clear to you anymore? What is there to negotiate more?", Boyko Borissov said.
He added that the government to be proposed will be entirely GERB's because any other alternatives are poorly received by GERB voters.
