6,593,275 Bulgarian citizens are on the electoral rolls for the early parliamentary elections, 6,138,050 are eligible to vote for the European Parliament elections. The difference in the number is due to the residency requirement for the European Parliament elections.

Voting will take place in 12,898 polling stations across the country on 9 June. The polling stations in medical institutions, detention centres and all social institutions with at least 10 voters will also open 48 hours before the start of polling day.

There are 769 polling stations abroad. The addresses of the locations are published on the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

In the meantime, the deletion of registrations for candidates for the Bulgarian National Assembly continues, CEC spokeswoman Rositsa Mateva said on June 4. As of today, 6,100 candidates will take part in the race for 240 seats in Bulgaria’s Parliament. 1,506 of them are running in two constituencies, 1,826 of the candidates are women.

There are 418 candidates for the European Parliament, of whom 131 are women and 287 are men.

Of all the candidates in the 2-in-1 elections, 332 are standing in both.

The delivery of paper ballot papers and other electoral documents to the districts in the country started on 31 May. Election papers, ballot papers and voting machines are also being sent to polling stations outside the country. Voting machines in the country are currently being installed and will go to polling stations on Thursday and Friday.

Election day starts at 7pm and ends at 8pm. If there are queues of waiting voters outside polling stations, voting can be extended until 9pm.
