"Velichie" at President's consultations for new government: Hiding behind an expert government is not the right formula for Bulgaria

Representatives of "Velichie" party met with President Rumen Radev on June 26 as part of the consultations before the President hands over the mandate to seek to form a government. He congratulated the party's representatives on their election result.

"It is no coincidence that the interest in you is great because you are the new force in the Parliament and it is important to hear your opinion because every vote in this challenging political environment is extremely important. How do you see your participation in all these processes or do you have something new to offer," President Rumen Radev asked at the beginning of the meeeting.

The leader of "Velichie" Nikolay Markov said that an expert government is not the formula for Bulgaria.

He said that "hiding" behind an expert government is not the right formula for Bulgaria "because it hides coalition relations".

He added that it would be "an honour for the party to propose a programme government".

"If it comes to handing over a third mandate, and if the mandate is handed over to us, we will approach it in the same way and it will be an honour and a responsibility for us to propose a programme government, because from now on the goals are the most important," Nikolay Markov said.

"We are going through a difficult time in history. The decisions that have to be taken are highly responsible. I see more and more people in Parliament refuse to bear responsibility and shift it to other institutions or among themselves,” he said. That is why Markov said the best option is a programme government.
