GERB-UDF will have a convincing lead in the vote on Sunday, sociologists from "Alpha Research" polling agency predict.

"The electoral attitudes at the moment show that GERB-UDF will get 25.1% of the electoral support, We Continue the Change-Democratic Bulgaria - 15.4%, "Vazrazhdane" - 15.2%, Movement for Rights and Freedoms - 14.8%. During the election campaign alone, there has been an erosion of support for PP-DB by about two points. One of the big questions in these elections will be the alignment of the second, third and fourth political players," Pavel Valchev of Alpha Research said in the studio of the BNT’s programme "The Day Begins" on June 6.

"We see a high growth of support for other parties. These are about 20 parties that people want to support. This time we don't have a vote that is driven by supporting the winner, but rather a protest vote and support for the smaller political players," said Pavel Valchev.

The higher electoral threshold of 5.88%, as well as voting restrictions for Bulgarians in non-EU countries, make the answer to the question of how many parties will win a seat in the European Parliament relatively more certain. These are GERB-UDF (25.0%), CC-DB (15.9%), Vazrazhdane (15.7%), the MRF (14.1%), and the BSP (7.9%). There is some ambiguity with TISP (5.9%), but it is likely that the party of Slavi Trifonov will also jump over the higher electoral threshold of 5.88%.

"The threshold is 5.88 to win a seat in the European Parliament. In addition to GERB-UDF (25.0%), WCC-DB (15.9%), Vazrazhdane (15.7%), the MRF (14.1%), and the BSP (7.9%), There is Such a People (TISP) is also likely to jump over the higher electoral threshold of 5.88%," the pollster added.

42% of those eligible to vote have declared interest to go to the polling stations on June 9.

"Compared to the beginning of the election campaign, at the end of it we report an increased voter turnout. For the national parliament elections, 42% of respondents, or about 2,750,000 people, declared their willingness to go to the polling stations. About 2,430,000 people showed interest in the European Parliament elections," Valchev said.

The majority of those planning to vote (72%), made their decision before the official start of the campaign. Another 16% say they made their choice during the campaign. 12% have not yet decided whom to support.

During the election campaign, the respondetns were most impressed by the interviews of candidates in the media - 32%, election debates - 26%, billboards and posters - 14%, publications on the Internet and social networks also 14%.

The survey was conducted from June 1 to 4 with own resources. A total of 1,000 adults from across Bulgaria gave a standardized interview at home.
