Bulgaria and India: 70 years of diplomatic relations

The 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Bulgaria and India was celebrated with a unique exhibition featuring dozens of art works from the series "India" by world-famous Bulgarian artist Lyuben Stoev and a documentary film about him.

It was opened by the Ambassador of India, H.E. Sanjay Rana, who appreciated the contribution of Lyuben Stoev to the modern development of our bilateral relations and the chance of our two countries for even more active ties in the modern world.

The event was organized at Sofia University by the Indologists, Alma Mater Gallery and Friends of India Club in Bulgaria.

Connected by fate to the Eastern culture and radiation of the lands and people between the Indus River and the sacred Ganges, Lyuben Stoev never misses a chance in his life to roam this vast land - as ancient as it is modern, one of the leading global powers in the world today.

Our relations are rare on Earth today, for despite the vicissitudes of the times, they have invariably been traditionally friendly and profess the philosophy of both ancient India and ancient Bulgaria of a tolerant, harmonious and a just earthly world.

And with our online, digital attitude towards the world and people, the Sofia-Delhi relationship brings us back to human values and the bright side of life with a great chance for cutting-edge cooperation, not only in the academic, cultural and spiritual fields, but also in the IT sector, electronics and space science - some of the new aspects in the dialogue between the two countries. No one disputes that the Bulgaria-India tandem is a source of tremendous positive energy on Earth.

"It is no coincidence that the exhibition, as well as the documentary dedicated to the artist which was created by his family, his younger brother - also a world-renowned Bukgarian filmmaker, Jackie Stoev and his two sons, immediately attracted not only friends and admirers of India, but also students with the amazing transcoding of this land: a microcosm of the universe, by the talent of Lyuben Stoev," said H.E. Sanjay Rana, Ambassador of India to Bulgaria.
