Bulgaria bids farewell to Patriarch Neophyte
In addition to the clergy, many people have come to pay final respects and bid farewell to His Holiness.
A mourning bell rang out from the bell tower of the Patriarchal Cathedral of St. Alexander Nevsky in Bulgaria’s capital Sofia. The mortal remains of the Patriarch were carried in a gun carriage from the time of King Boris III, which was used to carry the coffin of the king on his last earthly journey. Unlike in 1943, when the carriage was pulled by horses, today this was done by a military vehicle.
