Measures against the increase in the price of electricity. Today, May 20, Kozloduy Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) is expected to withdraw the application submitted to the Energy and Water Regulatory Commission (EWRC), which envisages a 30% increase in the price of electricity for households from 1 July.
Another application will be submitted instead. This was stated on Thursday by the caretaker Energy Minister, Vladimir Malinov. According to him, the new application will not foresee such a price increase, as the plant's costs will be optimised without putting into question its operation.
Malinov also said that in the meantime the government will compensate the deficit in the Electricity System Security Fund, which already exceeds 430 million BGN, so that the price of electricity for households does not have to rise because of it.
