Overcoming the consequences of the energy crisis through common actions within the European Union to reduce the prices of energy resources, as well as the possibilities for support for the member states that have filled their gas storage facilities with natural gas at a price significantly higher than the current one, were among the topics that President Rumen Radev raised in a videoconference with the President of the European Council, Charles Michel, on March 21.
The conversation with Charles Michel was part of the preparations for the upcoming European Council meeting, which will be held on 23 and 24 March. The country will be represented by the Bulgarian President, the Head of State's press secretariat said.
Rumen Radev expressed Bulgaria's support for the continuation of the initiative for a transit corridor for grain exports from Ukraine to countries in need. At the same time, he pointed out that measures were needed at European level to prevent this transit from distorting the domestic market in Bulgaria and other countries in the region.
The support that Bulgaria expects from its European partners in the fight against illegal migration is not only financial, President Radev further stressed.
The Head of State highlighted Bulgaria's initiative, in cooperation with Europol, to set up a task force in this country with the participation of interested member states and third partner countries in order to quickly exchange operational information and take coordinated joint measures against illegal migration.
