Temperatures above 30 degrees per Celsius were measured in many places across the country in the afternoon on April 15.
A maximum temperature of 33.6 degrees in the shade was measured at 3.30 pm today in Rousse. This was reported by the hydrometeorological station in the Danube-side city, specifying that the values were a record for April 15.
The temperature in Lovech (Central Northern Bulgaria) is also a record - 33 degrees. This improved by more than 6 degrees the previous record for this day - 26.6 degrees, measured in 1950.
In Pleven and Knezha (Central Northern Bulgaria) the record for hot weather on this date was also improved. At 2 p.m., the temperature measured in Pleven was 31 degrees and in Knezha 31.7. In both cities the record temperature of 27.8 degrees for April 15, recorded in 1950 in Knezha and in 1961 in Pleven, was improved, the report of Pleven meteorologists showed.
A record temperature of 31.6 degrees was reported today in Targovishte (Northeastern Bulgaria) as well. The maximum measured temperature for the date April 15 so far was 25.8 degrees, recorded in 2000. The coldest April 15 was in 1996, when records showed minus 0.5 degrees.
In Veliko Turnovo (Northern Bulgaria), Montana (Northwestern Bulgaria) and Haskovo (Southern Bulgaria), the temperature was 31 degrees.
Record temperature was also registered in the coastal city of Varna - 30.3 degrees. This is nearly 8 degrees more than the previous record from 1930, when 22.6 degrees were measured on April 15.
In Plovdiv (Southern Bulgaria), Bourgas (Southerstern Bulgaria), Vidin (Northwestern Bulgaria), Shumen, Razgrad, (Northern Bulgaria) Dobrich, Silistra (Northeastern Bulgaria) and Kyustendil (Southwestern Bulgaria) the thermometers measured 30 degrees. In Stara Zagora (Southern Bulgaria) - 29 degrees. In Sofia (Western Bulgaria), Blagoevgrad (Southwestern Bulgaria), Sliven and Kardzhali (Southern Bulgaria) - 28 degrees.
