A new national programme of the Ministry of Education and Science will invest 10 million BGN in the modernisation of university libraries.
The programme enables the provision of modern equipment, the construction of new spaces and the improvement of existing facilities. Funds can be invested in purchasing specialised literature, providing easier access to it, building digital collections, creating institutional repositories, implementing processing software, etc.
The programme adopted by the government will be implemented over a period of three years. Over 150,000 undergraduate and postgraduate students are expected to be supported in their studies and research development during this period.
Modern conditions of rapid technological development and the penetration of artificial intelligence in modern society also place new demands on libraries - on the way they function, their equipment and also on the professional skills of those working in them.
