Caretaker Tourism Minister, Ilin Dimitrov, commented on the offers for the overnigjht accomodation during Easter holidays in the BNT’s "The Day Begins" programme on March 13. In his words, the prices start from 80 BGN, which is the lowest price per day, and reach up to 500, depending on where the hotel is located. Our advertising is very strong in Romania, Poland and the Czech Republic, Dimitrov said.
"The winter season was difficult but successful, there was no snow all over Europe. The slopes were in good condition, the World Cup starts happened. 70% of the tourists were Bulgarians during the winter season," he added.
According to him, there are 1.4 million tourist registrations for winter resorts, which is 28% more than last year and by 5% more than 2019.
The tourism minister said that about 4.7 million tourists are expected in the summer season. He clarified that there is a problem with flights as there are not enough crews.
The five-star spa hotels register more than 75% occupancy on a yearly basis, which is a very serious achievement, there is an 18% growth of spa tourism compared to last year, the tourism minister added.
"The German market is important, Germans come in the wings of the season and stay the longest. For the German market there is a growth of 20 to 30 percent, but these are levels below 2019, but we will be able to catch up this summer, we expect to be between 5 and 7 percent above 2019. Tourism is coming back," added Ilin Dimitrov.
We will promote cultural tourism, unfortunately we do not have a sufficient budget, the tourism minister explained and denied that there is a negative campaign in Bulgaria.
