A serious accident on the road between the villages of Cheshnegirovo and Popovitsa (Southern Bulgaria) caused the death of two people and one was seriously injured, the press centre of the Regional Directorate of the Ministry of Interior in Plovdiv said on April 15. The report was received by the police at 16.20.
According to preliminary information, the drivers of two Mazda cars – a man and a woman - died after a fatal head-on collison between the two vehicles. A female passenger in one of the cars is in critical condition and is being transported to hospital. A fire-fighting team used specialised equipment to extricate trapped victims from the vehicles.
Traffic in the area is suspended until the inspection of the scene is completed. The detour route in the direction of Plovdiv is via Popovitsa - Seltsi - Bolyantsi – Assenovgrad, while in the direction to Haskovo is via Sadovo - Mominsko - Popovitsa.
