Protesters from “Zashtita” trade union are against the speculation and the uncontrolled raising of prices in the country. They demand an increase in the minimum wage to BGN 1,200 for the whole country, an increase in the basic wage in the centres for emergency medical services and in hospitals and state intervention to determine the minimum insurable income in the industry. They also demand that the minimum pension should become 80% of the national minimum wage.

"The social demands we have been making for years are not happening. Namely, raising the minimum wage, they lied to the doctors in the emergency medical centers and nothing happened there, in the hospitals the wages have not been updated for two years. Lowest pensions, sickest nation. We hope that someone will listen to our demands and do something", appealed Krasimir Mitov, President of the National Trade Union "Zashtita” (Protection).
