Bulgaria's 49th Parliament in numbers: How many laws, how many sittings and how much time in overseeing the government

Since the beginning of its term of office, the 49th National Assembly has adopted 148 laws and 286 resolutions, 156 hours and 54 minutes is the time used for oversight of the executive.

• Legislative activity

Since the beginning of its term in office, the 49th National Assembly has adopted 148 laws, 286 resolutions and three declarations. This is according to a summary prepared by the National Assembly's Directorate for Legislative Activity, Parliamentary Control and EU Law and the Parliamentary Press Centre.

Bulgaria’s Parliament held 122 plenary sittings, 21 of which were extraordinary.

From 12 April 2023 to 30 April 2024, a total of 359 bills were tabled, 216 of which by Members of Parliament. During this period, 410 draft resolutions were submitted to Parliament, 325 of which were submitted by Members of Parliament. Nine draft addresses and declarations were moved.

• Question time

Until 30 April 2024, MPs addressed 2,888 questions and 76 interpellations to members of the executive. Question Time took place at 26 regular plenary sittings and four extraordinary plenary sittings. MPs of all parliamentary groups addressed 74 questions during eight Friday sittings.

The Parliament used 156 hours and 54 minutes of its time for oversight of the executive.

There had been 31 hearings under article 111 of the Rules of Procedure of the National Assembly, one debate on a question and two votes of no confidence had been rejected.

Of the questions asked, 2,277 required a written response and 611 a verbal response. Fifty-two interpellations were answered in writing and 24 received a verbal response. A total of 2,498 questions and 60 interpellations received responses.
