Bulgaria receives the first tranche of BGN 2.7 billion under the Recovery and Resilience Plan

The European Commission has transferred today the first tranche of BGN 2.7 billion under the Recovery and Resilience Plan, caretaker Deputy Prime Minister for EU funds management, Atanas Pekanov, said on December 16. He added that this was a fulfilled promise of the caretaker government.

"The disbursement of the first tranche demonstrates the confidence the EC has in the Bulgarian institutions to carry out the necessary reforms and measures. The measures are for technological modernisation of small and medium sized enterprises, they will also go for the already started construction of the third underground line, for the TETRA system, and the other part - in the new procedures that are just starting in the coming weeks, energy efficiency, renewable energy on roofs, outdoor artificial lighting for municipalities," Pekanov said.

For the second tranche of EUR 740 million, 66 measures have to be implemented. One of them is the adoption of the law on the protection of whistleblowers, rejected this Wednesday in Parliament.
