The caretaker Minister of Health, Dr. Galya Kondeva, on August 1 announced that about 100 million BGN losses have been identified at the hospital "Lozenets" in Sofia.
According to her, the dismissal of directors of medical institutions is mainly for two reasons.
"One is by personal wish, as is the case with the director of the specialised oncology hospital, the second reason is after significant violations in the management of the medical institution have been identified, as is the case with “Lozenets” Hospital, where the economic situation is severe."
The audit at the hospital found losses of BGN 100 million. "Now we are experiencing huge difficulties in stabilizing the economic situation of the hospital. This loss was largely incurred by the former director of the hospital, Dr. Hristo Stoyanov," explained Minister Kondeva.
The caretaker Health Minister stressed that the main reasons for the loss are contracts and insufficient number of activities, payments, credit and public procurement irregularities.

Dr. Galya Kondova dismissed Dr. Hristo Stoyanov as director of “Lozenets” Hospital in May 2024. The hospital is now managed by Dr. Olga Mitsova.
