So far, in Bulgaria, there has been no case of severe form of Covid-19 of people who have been vaccinated against the disease, Bulgaria’s chief state health inspector, Associate Professor Angel Kunchev told BNT on March 26. Despite the pressure from the third Covid-19 wave in the country, there is no reason to postpone the day of the elections, he added.
"The case in the nursing home in Dobrich (where people got infected with Covid-19 after vaccination) is very indicative. There the infection came from members of the staff who refused to be vaccinated. People who were immunized became positive, some of them developed some symptoms, but not severe ones. Six people, vaccine recipients, were admitted to hospital and no one had to remain for treatment. Those who remained in the hospital were people who were not immunised and needed treatment. All of them stayed for monitoring, they were people who didn't have immunizations, they refused to get vacinated. So far, we don't have a case of vaccine recipients who developed severe form of Covid-19, let alone died." said Assoc. Prof. Kunchev.
The chief state health inspector said that all vaccines that arrive in Bulgaria are used within 3-4 days.
Assoc. Prof. Kunchev stressed that the quantities of the arriving vaccines of "Pfizer" and "Moderna", as well as of "Astra Zeneca" are gradually starting to grow.
"If there are enough deliveries, we will reach half a million vaccinated at the beginning of next month," said Assoc. Prof. Kunchev.
According to him, people should not be afraid to get vaccinated, "since we already have the opinion of experts from the regulatory body and the national one."
