Water levels of rivers in Bulgaria are expected to rise, Bulgaria’s Ministry of Environment and Waters announced on 9th of March, based on information from the National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology.
Temporary rise of water levels is possible in the Danube river basin, mainly in the lower reaches of the rivers, as a result of drainage. As more rain is forecast over the next days, significantly higher water levels are expected on 10th and 11th of March in the catchment of the rivers Ogosta, Iskar, Vit, Osam and Yantra.
In the Black Sea basin, levels will remain without any significant changes in the next 1-2 days. Rises in the water levels of the rivers flowing into South Black Sea basin may be possible for a short time on 11th and 12th of March.
Temporary increase of river levels in the East White Sea basin are expected on 9th of March and the next 1-2 days. More significant rises are possible between 10th and 12th of March in the middle and the lower reaches of the rivers Tundhza and its tributary Mochuritsa, and in the upper and middle reach of the rivers Maritsa, Arda and Varbitsa.
In the West White Sea basin, on 9th of March and in the next 1-2 days, the predicted rainfalls are expected to result in significant water level rise in the catchments of the rivers Struma and Mesta.
