The air ambulance successfully transported a woman who was injured while parking a car in Sandanski

The medical helicopter that transported a woman with fractures from Sandanski landed at the heliport of the University Hospital "St. Ekaterina" in Sofia on June 6. A team of the Emergency Medical Centre - Sofia transported the woman to the emergency hospital "Pirogov".

Bulgarian air ambulance flew its first mission

The woman was run over by her own car in Sandanski, she forgot to put on the hand brake. She is in life-threatening condition after forgetting to pull upwards the handbrake when parking, the Regional Police Directorate said.

The 58-year-old woman had parked her private car but failed to take the necessary measures to prevent the car from moving without a driver in it. The car drove off backwards with the door open and dragged the woman.

The victim was admitted to the hospital in the town of Sandanski for treatment with life-threatening injuries. She has a fractured pelvis, two fractured ribs and a fractured collarbone. A 37-year-old man from the town, who tried to stop the vehicle, was also injured in the accident with injuries to his foot and abrasions to his hand. After a medical examination, he was released for home treatment.

The relatives of the injured woman requested an air ambulance to transport her to a medical facility in Sofia.

This is the second mission of the Bulgarian first air ambulance. On Tuesday, a woman in serious condition was transported from Shumen to the Military Medical Academy in Sofia.

Today the helicopter took off from Sofia at 12.22. The helicopter landed at the stadium in Sandanski at about 13.00. Shortly after 14.00 the air ambulance arrived at the site of "St. Ekaterina" hospital in Sofia.
