An inspiring story that shows we gain more when we choose to give instead of receive. The 15-year-old, Jesus Christov, from Aytos found a lost purse with money and a debit card in it and, even though this could have been of help to his family who live in a dilapidated house with no electricity, he decided to turn it to the police. The boy has 7 brothers. He dreams of becoming a police officer.
The fifth grader from Aytos found the lost wallet next to a shop in the town. There was 140 BGN in it and a debit card. He did not hesitate for a moment and took it to the police.
"He is from a very poor family. They live in very poor conditions and this amount would have definitely been of help for the family and yet he did not hesitate to return the wallet," said Senior Commissioner Kaloyan Kaloyanov, director of the Regional Directorate of the Ministry of Interior in Bourgas.
Although the family is struggling, Jesus' mother raised him never to steal.
Moved by the boy's story, students from Bourgas bought a cake for his birthday. This cake turned out to be the first in his life.
"He was very happy. A child from such a poor area, from such a poor house, to do such a thing, he is a hero to me," added Pavlina Stamatova, a student in Social Pedagogy.
February 15 turned into a day of celebration for the school where Jesus studies, because he was awarded by the police, the municipality and volunteers.
“We are glad that he is one of our students and that we have managed to instill this feeling in him," said Dora Georgieva, the Head of “Atanas Manchev” school in Aytos.
Jesus dreams of becoming a policeman. He doesn't like bad people and wants to fight for justice.
