A huge amount of drugs - nearly 400 kg of heroin worth about BGN 32 million, was seized by the Bulgarian authoritieis, Prosecutor General, Ivan Geshev, announced on his Twitter account on February 16.

According to BNT sources, the heroin was imported through the port of Varna. It was seized in Targovishte while the shipment was transferred from one lorry to another. Several people were arrested in the course of the operation.

"Well done! My colleagues from Varna district prosecutor’s office, the directorate for combating organised crime and the Customs Agency have done a good job to protect our children. Bulgaria shows that it is a solid barrier against drug distribution!", the Chief Prosecutor wrote on Twitter.
